Short Trips With Big Rewards Los Cristianos is a lovely place to stay and Hotel Paradise Park is well placed to enjoy the beaches, fishing port, and spectacular events but if you want to go exploring, here are a few easily reached alternatives.
Las Galletas Heading back towards the airport this small fishing village has charm and character. The shingle beach is protected by the long arm of the modern marina – a walk along the quay offers great views of the wide range of boats and yachts and a selection of fish restaurants. Further inland there is a cosy traffic free shopping area with plenty of cafes and bars.
Adeje The horseshoe shaped main streets are a little steep, a reminder that the town was an important defence against sea invaders, the grand canon and part of the original castle walls remain. The tree lined Calle Grande is beautiful and leads onto the new look Plaza de Espana with views into the Barranco del Infierno that cuts through the mountain range. Look out for the two churches, one ancient and one modern but both stylish.
Puerto Colon More modern and mainstream but with the dual attractions of a large marina and a soft sand beach that gently shelves into the natural bay, Several tiers of bars and restaurants are within touching distance of the beach and marina and a large inflatable iceberg moored in the sea is just one reason this is a family favourite. A long coastal promenade passes through here or you can drop down from the busy commercial area of San Eugenio.
La Caleta Beyond the purpose built resorts of Torviscas and Playa del Duque this unspoilt fishing area perches on the edge of the sea. The wide choice of fish restaurants look onto the rocky outcrops and worn slabs where local children go to swim between small boats bobbing in the water. Just before La Caleta a large black sand beach has plenty of room for sunbathing.
None of these places are more than 20 minutes drive, you can hire a car at reception, or add on around 10 minutes for a cheap public bus ride from the main stops a short walk downhill from Hotel Paradise Park.
