The Walk For Life Will Turn Los Cristianos Pink Some events unite all the communities of Tenerife, the Walk For Life is a long established fixture on the social calendar. Raising money and awareness for breast cancer, it is also a celebration of life with many survivors and those whose families have been touched by cancer spreading the word that there is hope.
The route varies from year to year but on 16 December the procession will set off at 11 am from the Magma Arte & Congresos centre in Adeje, next door to the Playa de Las Americas bus station. This years finishing point is the Plaza del Pescadora (the statue of the fisherwoman) at Los Cristianos old beach, just downhill from Hotel Paradise Park. Live entertainment is provided at the start with English and Spanish speaking hosts and there’s always a drum band or two on the parade to keep up a loud and proud tempo.
Previous years have always attracted well over 2,000 people, many wearing pink or fancy dress to show their support. The route passes along the sea front and the mayors of both Adeje and Arona usually make an appearance. With a gentle pace and good company it’s a great way to spend a Sunday morning, there are more details at www.carreraporlavida.com but you can just turn up, everyone will make you very welcome.
