From fishing village to popular Tenerife holiday resort, Los Cristianos has always embraced change. On Sat 10th November a new era will begin with the arrival of Sea Cloud, a four mast yacht, testing the waters for other cruise ships to follow.
Thousands of cruise passengers arrive up north in Santa Cruz each week but it’s a more modest start for Los Cristianos. An equal split of 200 passengers and crew, on the 1931 built yacht, will fit Tenerife in between Cadiz and Las Palmas in Gran Canaria.
The Los Cristianos port is set up for the daily inter island ferries of Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas but not for cruise ships. Sea Cloud will moor up just off the coast and shuttle boats will bring passengers ashore. On 16th November there’s a quick return, this time on a circular from Las Palmas, and then on 18th November sister ship Sea Cloud 2 will call in on a trip from Funchal to Las Palmas.
Hopefully this will lead to regular cruise visitors to further boost the international reputation of Tenerife and Los Cristianos as great places to visit.
