Not Just The Day Of Canaries Although part of Spain there is a great sense of national pride among the Canarian people and 30th May the national holiday of the Canary Islands is
always a good reason to celebrate with music, colour, and dance.
This year in Los Cristianos you can discover some of the history with a programme of Folklore and Traditions at the Cultural Centre at the heart of the town just down the hill from Hotel Paradise Park. These run from 22 to 28 May leading up to the big Baile de Magos, an outdoor display of local folk music and dance on Wednesday 29 May from 10pm and continuing into the early hours of the big day itself.
Folklore and Traditions will be formally opened at 7pm on Wednesday 22 May and at 9pm there will be a parade of Canarian costumes. From the next day there will be displays inside the cultural centre and music and song just outside daily from 10am to 9pm.
The Baile de Magos takes pride of place on Wednesday 29 May and as the next day is a holiday there will be no rush to finish before everyone has enjoyed plenty of dancing. There will also be stalls selling traditional cakes and biscuits, a real taste of history.
