Boat Trips, Siam Park, Loro Parque, Aqualand, Jungle Park, Castillo San Miguel, Teide, Santa Cruz, How to move around Tenerife

Lets talk about attractions in Tenerife and find something suitable for all ages and types of people. From things to see to things to do. The best attractions to make the most of your stay in Tenerife.

Boat Trips

Boat Trips Well, here's an idea of what's on offer in the way of boat trips from the south of Tenerife. Trips go from either Puerto Colon - Playa de las Americas or from the port at Los Cristianos. Most of them offer a free bus service that picks up from various, larger hotels around the resorts. They tend to go out looking for Wales and Dolphins. Wales are pretty much a certainty to spot; they are Pilot wales which look like big, fat dolphins. The dolphins aren't always a certainty but I'd say around 50% of trips spot them. Skippers keep in touch via radio so if one finds dolphins, he'll get on the radio and tell anyone in the area so they can sail in to see them too.

There's a huge choice of boats, especially if you want to stay out for most of the day - catamarans, sail boats, cruisers ... offering drinks, lunch, water-sports and a trip around various parts of the island so take your pick.

In adition to the trips above, there are regular ferry services from Los Cristianos that run to the nearby islands of La Gomera and La Palma.

There are a wide choice of fishing trips too, though I haven't been on one of those (ever) so I'm not the person to ask (yet) but I can say that deep-sea fishing and big-game fishing off the waters of the Canaries are some of the best in the world with several world records being held here.

Siam Park

siam_park_logoStuck for something that can please a wide range of ages?!?
Enjoy many water attractions ranging from relaxing rides, family ones and those which give a bit more of an adrenaline rush. A very huge modern water park, a fantastic day out for all the family and big groups.

sea_lionCatch the free bus from outside the hotel opposite Spar which comes every half hour from 9.50-12.50. It takes about 10 minutes to get there. Get the number 3 bus for the way back just outside the entrance. As you enter the park you are met by the pool of sea lions, watch them swim around.

The use of sunbeds and parasols is free and there are a few areas amongst the swimming pools where you can relax and enjoy the sun.

siam_beachAlternatively you could head for the artificial beach and grab a sunlounger and parasol there while you look out on the sea lke pool with the largest artificial waves reaching 3 metres.

There is a floating market which consists of a number of shops stocking souvenirs, billabong surf, snacks and drinks as well as a Loro Parque foundation shop where you can buy souvenirs to help the environment. Thai massages and tatoos are available.

There should be something to please everyone. For a water park the food is reasonably priced.

The reason why Siam Park is so popular is for its variety of rides most of which are done with rings not just for one person but for two, three, four or even up to family size. This is what makes this park so great for families and large groups.

tower_of_power There are a number of different rides from the Mai Thai River where there are two options to leisurely float round or go to the right and come to a slide which takes you under the aquarium where you can see the fish all around you. To the more thrilling tower of power which is a 28 metre drop freefall which then shoots you through the aquarium. Fun for the kids and all the family The Lost City, a very large play park in the water, there are two large containers which gradually fill up with water and every 4 minutes they tip out causing a waterfall, splashing everyone.

mekong_rapidsMekong Rapids a great ride for all the family, this ride can hold four people or even more as it is specially designed for all the family. Enjoy the action as you splash around in the rapids. The Dragon and the Volcano are two rides which you can go on as two, three or four people. They look pretty similar but as you try them out you notice the difference. The Jungle Snakes can be riden in single or double rings. They are a lot of fun as you twist through the snake like form of the slide.

How to move around Tenerife

The ideal is to walk the sights to see attractions that we recommend. The most comfortable option is to rent a car as it allows freedom, without having to worry about schedules and itineraries. But Tenerife has a network of "guaguas", or buses, which connect the towns and major urban centers.

By "guagua" or bus.
With the "guagua", or bus for us, you can move smoothly through the main towns. They are managed by Titsa and start first thing in the morning and end late at night. The route and its frequency depends on the line in question. Urban round trips cost about 1 euro. If for example you want to go from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Playa de Las Americas, line 110 and 111 run with a frequency of 30 minutes. The price for it sells for around 7.50 euros. There is the Bono Bus Route with which you can save over 50%. You can buy the bonus at stations, kiosks and its price is 12 to 30 euros.

By taxi.
The taxi is a fast way of moving from one place to another. It is easy to find taxis. Reception can order it from the hotel. It is advisable to ask about the approximate price of the trip.

By car.
It is without doubt the most comfortable way to travel. You can move freely and become familiar with the island. Going by car on the island is easy since it has two highways, the TF-1 and TF-5.
